The “Getting Past the Cover” Problem

Many in the movement throw out names of prominent books and authors, but have engaged in a VERY superficial reading of those texts, if any, seeking to merely associate them with their pre-conceived ideological positions rather than within any scholarly and scientific context, and purposely misleading others both about the retrospective political intent of the authors AND the nature of the content.

Reading a book is one thing, understanding it another, and situating it within a particular historical and social context or one involving related work in a particular field or discipline, THAT requires REAL time-consuming scholarly work for which there is no shortcut or substitute.
