An Inconvenient Truthie

“Integrationism” derailed the most positive things in our communities and since the negro leadership was in charge of that and glorified that and benefitted from that, they CANNOT and WILL not ever effectively critique the fact that they led us to trade REAL businesses, REAL schools, REAL land holdings, and REAL finance for absolutely nothing in return except the right to hang out with some elite folks who we found out later collectively don’t give a darn about our well being. You will not find many so-called intellectual Afrikans, including chairpersons of Black Studies or something like that, who will say that publicly, write about it, or openly speak on that as I do and have for more than 20 years. Deep down our enslavement experience and its learned lack of self-love and respect inserted the idea that we were nothing without the validation of certain “others” and participation in external institutions and that gaining that was worth even our survival as a people.

I did not grow up around negroes, but Africans who had some sense that they were and what that meant in terms of their potential and responsibility, so I never HAD that “double-consciousness” (i.e. schizophrenic) psychology that apparently afflicts DuBoisians or some inferiority complex or low self-esteem. In fact, I dismissed from the outset at a young age, the idea that ANY person was superior OR inferior to me because I knew that my lineage and value like that of all other people was of God. I never endorsed “minority” thought, and for a long time I did not even understand it. My adopted maternal grand was a Garveyite in practice, if not ideology. She owned land, she built her house, she cared for her 6 kids in the segregated south by herself with no man, she defended herself with a pistol, she held on to her cultural traditions, and raised her food, right here in the USA after slavery. That’s why I look at folks strange when they act like slavery is the only narrative Afrikans have here and that slavery is the only narrative for even those who were descendants of slaves. It’s not, THAT IS A LIE and those who tell it KNOW it is and KNOW you DON’T know better. So I be looking at dese folks, begging for and chasing government handouts, kissing up to Obama no matter how many times he shows us his rear, fighting wars for Eurocentric plutocratic power, and begging to get in the system, wondering “what’s wrong with ya’ll”? I now understand the real meaning of being enslaved in your mind, long after the physical chains have gone.
