From Spiritual Deprivation to Material Impoverishment

Recognizing that money IS an important resource, I am more convinced that poverty is a spiritual condition that affects your mentality. We ALL struggle from time to time when we have less money than we need. That’s a “cash flow” or “cash crunch” problem but “poverty” is deeper. I keep meeting people who would be broke even if they won the lottery. The spiritual part is the complete lack of any future orientation. Money is at best a means to an immediate legitimate or illegitimate need. Savings, investment, delayed gratification, skill cultivation,  all values taught in a proper spiritual education, are absent.
